The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary to tell her she would have a child, the son of God, and that he should be called Jesus. Mary and Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem to pay taxes. The town was full of travellers and the inns were full so a kind innkeeper allowed them to stay in his stable with the animals. That night baby Jesus was born. An angel appeared to some shepherds and they visited the baby and many angels joined to sing praises to God for the birth of His Son.

Joy to the World - Isaac Watts
Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing; and heaven and nature sing;
And heaven, and heaven and nature sing!
Joy
to the world, the Savior reigns
Let men their songs employ
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy
No more let sins and sorrows grow
Nor thorns infest the ground
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found, far as the curse is found
Far as, far as the curse is found
He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love, and wonders of His love
And wonders, wonders of His love
Let men their songs employ
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy
No more let sins and sorrows grow
Nor thorns infest the ground
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found, far as the curse is found
Far as, far as the curse is found
He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love, and wonders of His love
And wonders, wonders of His love

Christians Awake - John Bunyan
Christians awake, salute the happy morn
Whereon the Saviour of the world was born
Rise to adore the mystery of love
Which hosts of angels chanted from above;
With them the joyful tidings first begun
Of God Incarnate and the Virgin's Son.... (and you find the other verses?)
This poem was written by John Bunyan for his daughter for Christmas. The following Christmas the organist and choir of his church set it to music for Christmas Day services.
