Beach Holiday

Last week I had a great summer holiday at Gerringong as we have done for maybe 15 years and before that at Mum and Dad's when they lived at Gerringong. We had the same two units we usually book. Geoff stayed down the whole week this year. Jen and Brad were able to spend a few days with him as well.

Ellen, Rod and the boys came for Saturday night and then were able to rearrange work commitments to come again from Wed. to Sat.

Karen and Alastair, Pernilla and Leonie also spent time down with us and Roger and Janice came for their 'annual beach holiday'.

Nola and Gherry came for lunch one day and we even met Dane and Bron at the shops this time.

There was the usual jigsaw puzzle set up but the corker was Janice's globe puzzle.

There was also a Take Two Tournament. But most of all there were lots of swims with some people seen in the surf for the first time in decades. Alex and Luke enjoyed rock pools, surfing and the river at Gerroa .

There were lots of fish and chip meals and other tasty meals together at a couple of different local haunts but most of all we had time to be together.

Surrey would be pleased that it all worked so well. Geoff and I remembered him as we threw some 'flowers on the water' - frangipani from the rock platform at Gerringong. There were a few shared tears.

Hi Betty

Good to see you're enjoying your beach holiday!

We only recently heard of Surrey's passing, and we were very saddened. Our thoughts are with you.

Love from Laura (Mabberley)

And it was a most enjoyable couple of days at Gerringong, Betty, for Alastair and me - body-surfing (novices at that!), jigsaw puzzle, Take Two, and just sitting around with you, Geoff, Jen, Leonie, Ellen, Rod and the boys.
It was both sad and nice that Surrey's obituary appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald while we were there, featuring in full colour Jaime's great photo of SJ. The text is online at the SMH archive site - go to http://newsstore.smh.com.au/apps/newsSearch.ac and type in 'surrey jacobs'-
but not the photo (which can be seen on http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/surreyjacobs/surrey.htm). I don't know how long the obituary will be findable in the SMH archives, but anyone who would like a scanned copy can contact you or me.
