Farewell to Elaine

Monday 3 October – Elaine leaves
We got up with alarms at 6 am to another drizzly day. After a quick breakfast we drove Elaine to Albany airport (about a 2 hour drive) for her trip back to Vancouver via Toronto. Unfortunately the flight to Toronto was 2 hours late so her two flights had to be changed and she will arrive much later in Vancouver. These changes were eventually made and her bag booked in so we had a coffee together to settle all our stresses. Elaine rang her cousin Kay in Vancouver to notify her of the later arrival forgetting the time change. She woke Kay at 6 am. This whole episode took about 2 hours.

Once Elaine was safely ready to go through security we said our goodbyes. It has been fantastic having Elaine as a travel companion and yes, we are still talking to one another.

Back to North Adams for some grocery shopping then home for lunch.

The afternoon was spent packing to return to Lake Ossipee then on to our quilting weekend. I have also beenf trying to change my flight through to Salt Lake City so that I can visit Nic and Megan in Madison, Wisconsin. However, this is proving awkward. I hope it works out. At the time I booked the tickets Nic was in the throws of moving and was not sure where he would be so I was unable to make the arrangements.

Dinner was a yummy 'hamburg soup'. This is cooked up hamburger mince mixed with a tin of mixed vegetables, a tin of tomatoes and some beef stock. So easy and really yummy.
