Underhill for 2 nights in May

Elaine, Evelyn and Greg, Terry and Ellie and Geoff all joined me for a great and productive weekend at Underhill. Everyone spent lots of time burning off and I was able to sort the tank shed so that people can now sleep in there comfortably. I found about 20 pairs of Surrey's shoes/boots/thongs and about 20 warm coats. The shoes have gone to the salvos if they were good and to the bin if they were not. I still have to sort the coats because it is important to keep enough down there for visitors who do not come prepared for the cold. If they are really cold they will not worry about what they look like or how big the coat is. Geoff and I brought back a car load of rubbish and recycling each. Luckily I have a cleanup at the moment so can dispose of it all quite quickly.

How many clothes and blankets does one person need?
A baby stick insect on a star picket near the fire.
A tree frog climbing one of the plastic tanks.
A beautiful lichen on one of the fruit trees.

Geoff and I pruned the two almond trees. I hope they now put on a bit more new growth next season.

One of the hardest jobs was swivelling the bottom tank. We had drained it over the last month so it was empty. With a lot of grunting and groaning we were able to get it so that it now fills from the overflow of the higher tank in preparation for demolition of the caravan roof which is being eaten away by termites. Hopefully the caravan will go under the new shed roof when it is done.

Sorry I've been so long in putting up this post but I have had a bad cold since Monday and today is the first day I've actually felt sane. Luckily I was able to cancel all commitments for the week with very understanding friends.

Thank you everyone for you help both at the weekend and this week.
