Dupuytren's contracture - my saga

Some of you may have seen my hand recently. I have Dupuytren's conrtacture inherited from my Dad. On Friday I had an injection to dissolve the two cords on my right hand.

It is interesting that I took a photo of the hand in 2015 when it started to get very obvious.

The little finger curled a lot in that time and the index finger became quite twisted since then. The following photos are from January 2018

Right Hand - before

Left hand for comparison

Right hand after injection - to stay bandaged until Monday

Lots of TV and jigsaw
Have you ever tried to peel a banana one handed with your wrong hand, or tear off toilet paper, or even just eat meuslie?

On Monday the softened cords were broken after local anaesthetic injection - flat hand again.

The splint I now have to use for some time and take it off for exercises every two hours.
But now I can get it wet and at least use my thumb and first finger.

I won't be able to drive, garden or do heavy things until I can make a fist but I can do light things like patchwork and I can still sing so all is not lost.

Ooh, the frustration of the limitations while you are healing but hopefully the outcome will make it all worthwhile! Good luck!
