A later start today with a 7:30 breakfast. Soon after that we left for a 2 hour drive through part of the property guided by Tristan, son of the owner. We drove along the south side of the creek stopping at the new dam construction. It is hoped that this will form a wetland to encourage bird life in the dry.
We cut across the creek and came back along the north side to Ink Pot Pool where we had morning tea and a wander around. There was a bladderwort and some Eriodaulon in the pool and the NT state flower, Gossipium sturtianum (Sturt's Desert Rose).
We had not realised just how close we were to the homestead until we were back very quickly - 2 hours there and 1/2 hour back.
We had the afternoon to ourselves. I had a swim in the thermal pool then updated diary and downloaded photos. I also had a chat with Vicky and Ross who had both done Agriculture at uni but went through just after Surrey and Karen. It is such a small world! The very pleasant afternoon included inspiration from Vicky about another quilting project using my pieces of silk to create yoyo units. It would be a project I could travel with - lightweight and small.
We even got to see the pet croc in the little pool built into the deck. I saw a tortoise yesterday too and apparently there are also fish.
